The TV bachelor proposes in Queenstown

From the comfort of my living room I have been playing private investigator. So good am I that I don’t even require dark glasses or video cameras – and I can now tell you exactly where TV’s biggest cad The Bachelor Jason Mesnick brought his SECOND fiancee to New Zealand and proposed.

If you haven’t caught up with his love antics thus far, let me explain: The Bachelor is a dreadful American reality TV show where 1 guy wades through about 30 girls to find a wife (the Bachelorette gives the girls a turn with 30 guys).

Each week he goes on dates with each one, pashes a few of them, several he declares his love to. They return the sentiment in love-struck wonder. There are tears each week as 1 is dropped and gets put in the car and sent home while the other girls whiten their teeth even more, primp their hair and keep their lippy applied lest they be next.

Well the season finale with Jason Mesnick as bachelor and the final 2 wannabe brides, Melissa Rycroft and Molly Malaney was filmed at luxury lodge Eagle’s Nest in New Zealand’s stunning Bay of Islands. After much declaration of love among all 3 of them, Jason finally chose Melissa and sent Molly home in tears. But – SHOCK – after he returned to the US he very publicly dumped Melissa on a follow-up show on live TV and switched her for Molly.

So the 2 new love-birds came to New Zealand last week for a holiday (because this is where they fell in love even if he didn’t know it) and The Insider has announced that he got engaged again – this time to Molly.

So back to my detective skills… he popped the 2nd question at a 5-bedroom luxury lodge in Queenstown. That’s gotta be Eichardt’s Hotel on the waterfront of Queenstown’s lake*. This is a stunning little boutique hotel that boasts 5 luxurious hotel suites and 4 lakefront cottage suites. I’ve been in for a drink in front of the roaring fire, but never laid my head on the sumptuous pillows. (Hint…)

*So much for my detective skills. Jason didn’t propose at Eichardt’s but at the even MORE exclusive Kohara Lodge a few minutes drive from Queenstown with the most amazing mountain views and stunningness. (I haven’t stayed here either…)
