Pretty in Pink high tea at the Langham

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month so on behalf of boobs everywhere I popped into the Langham Auckland hotel to experience their Pretty in Pink Afternoon Tea.

No need for lunch!

No need for lunch!

Sitting nestled into cushions on the posh chairs we browsed the menu of herbal teas. I decided on Rosehip and Hibiscus. A pink iced tea was served in a long glass as we waited for our 3-tiered cake stand which arrived weighted down with mini scones, jam and cream on the bottom, 4 different kinds of teeny tiny crustless sandwiches on the middle plate, and the top was full of gorgeous little pink treats. We’re talking mini pink lamington’s with fresh strawberry jam somehow on them under the shaved coconut, strawberry tarts, butterfly cakes with strawberry cream, little pink iced profiteroles with passionfruit cream, fresh strawberries wearing pink chocolate tuxedos and this raspberry mousse with an edible pink ribbon.

Take your mum, your girlfriends…. your gardener, and think pink during October.

Cost $40 – $10 of which goes to the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation and you get a little fundraising pink ribbon. The Pretty in Pink afternoon tea runs from 12 noon to 4.30pm until October 31st (after that date, the high teas remain, but they won’t be quite so blush). Bookings are recommended so you don’t miss out. Phone 0800 61 62 61
