What’s for dinner on Air NZ to Perth?

I’ll tell you. And show you.

I was pleasantly surprised with my meal down the back of the bus on Air New Zealand. I probably shouldn’t have been, but considering I was expecting nothing more than a pie and a tub of kapiti ice cream, it was great. And there’s a lesson right there in expectation management. Under sell, over deliver (even though Air New Zealand had nothing to do with my underwhelmed expectation) and this airline butter chicken is worth blogging about.

The gas miner sitting next to me had beef casserole with mashed potatoes, but I didn’t think it polite to lean over and photograph his tray mid bite.

So here’s mine.

I give it 8/10

A potato salad sits at 11 o’clock. I had a couple of mouthfuls because raw onions are not my friend. Cheese and crackers are there at 12 o’clock and I made them into a cracker sandwich for afters. The bread roll was warm but I left it in favour of a couple of those wines…

At 5 o’clock is said Kapiti ice cream. By the time I got to it, it had melted just enough to be creamy. But the big yum shout out is saved for the butter chicken. The rice was a bit dry and crispy, but the chicken meat tender and sauce a nice sweet and rich creamy tomato. Yuss.

Looking forward to the flight home! I just need a few more movie choices now having watched 3 movies and 2 TV shows…
