Join my small France & Italy Tour and enjoy exploring off the beaten track on this exclusively designed 3-week trip
24 AUGUST – 16 SEPTEMBER 2019
Paris • Strasbourg • Annecy • Provence • Lake Maggiore • Lake Como • Rome
••• Live like a local •••
Alongside Josh at Weka Travel (who put together last year’s hugely successful Italy trip), we have put together this boutique small group tour starting in Paris and staying in cute French towns and villages before spending a few days on the French Riviera and then heading north for two nights at both of the Italian lakes, and ending in Rome.
This carefully planned small group tour is ideal for couples, singles or friends who want to visit these places but would prefer to have all the organisation done for them!
You’ll join a maximum of 14 like-minded travellers as we spend time exploring little towns, staying in small boutique accommodation, meet locals, shop in markets and twirl in circles at the astonishing history which will come alive with our local guides.
Private Transfers • Exclusive Day Trips • Avoid the Tourists
Please note, the finishing touches are still be finalised but this is what we have so far…
Paris 4 nights
We’ll start with a day to relax and a welcome dinner together, then over the next few days we’ll do some walking tours with local guides and have free time to potter off into galleries and museums, go shopping, wander along the Seine and browse the antiques in the bouquinistes.
I was amazed at the breathtaking opulence of Opera Garnier, so we’ll have a tour in there and learn how it was the first building in Paris to have gas lighting so everyone turned out in their finery. We’ll enjoy eating fresh breads, cheeses and pastries at local restaurants – and snails and frogs if you dare! I’m also going to take you to the Versailles for a day trip to see the palace and its incredible grounds.
Strasbourg 2 nights
I visited Strasbourg a few years ago and was wowed at its beauty, over on the French/German border along the Reine River. Expect a photo op around every corner with flower boxes hanging under windows and cobbled streets. A river runs around the old town and you’ll enjoy browsing in the shops and markets as well as learning some of its amazing history.
Annecy 2 nights
We’ll travel further down to base at Annecy (just south of Geneva) which is voted one of the prettiest towns in France by Conde Nast Traveller. On the way we’ll enjoy wineries, villages, sightseeing and relaxing when we get here.
Provence 4 nights
We’ll base ourselves near the French Riviera so we can take little side trips visiting the surrounding towns which might include Toulon, Monaco, Marseille and the lavender fields on the way.
Now it’s off to Italy!
Lake Maggiore 2 nights
Northern Italy will be our region to explore staying in the lakes district, starting with the town of Maggiore.
Lake Como 2 nights
Lake Como is the most famous lake town in Italy thanks to George Clooney (I’ll buy any one a wine who actually spots him!).
Rome 3 nights
Our tour last year started in Rome and it really is a beautiful city with wonderful history, food and architecture. We will join local guides to visit the hero sights, but also enjoy some meals and private tours far from the tourists to give you a special insight into the city.
Stopover in Bangkok 1 night
Save room for some shopping in Bangkok on our one-night stopover on the way home. We plan to take a Chao Praya river cruise for a couple of hours, then enjoy free time for shopping or a massage and finish with drinks at one of the iconic rooftop bars in the city.
