Who doesn’t want a sky view when they’re in Bangkok, one of the world’s coolest cities!
Here are some amazing rooftop bars in Bangkok to have a drink and a gander at the city lights and sights way (waaaaay) below. Note: this blog is not for acrophobics… those who have a fear of heights.
Sirocco
Just a quick zip up to the 63rd floor of the State Tower delivers you to The Dome at Lebua.
Sirocco holds the lofty (see what I did there?) title as the world’s highest al fresco restaurant and is one of Bangkok’s most coveted dining choices.
Book dinner up here to watch the sun set and the stars fall around you. It has a breathtaking view of Bangkok and the Chao Phraya river, and the SkyBar is literally under the open sky for a pre or post dinner drink (open from 6pm -1am) with live jazz music.
The food is Mediterranean and ingredients are sourced from the world’s best markets.
Where: State Tower, 1055 Silom Road, Bangkok

Red Sky
After a busy day shopping at Central World (see my shopping blog here), head upstairs to the 55th floor of Centara Grand to the outdoor bar and bistro, Red Sky for a wine or a meal.
You need to book for dinner, but can just pop up to the wine and martini bar. Happy hour is from 5pm-7pm and live jazz is played from 7.15pm-11.30pm. It’s a great place to meet friends and chill in a not-too-spendy atmosphere.
Where: Centara Grand Hotel, 999/99 Rama 1 Road, Pathumwan
The Roof Champagne and Wine Bar
On the 25th floor of Siam@Siam Design Hotel & Spa, this multi-level restaurant is an industrial structure and hipster design.
Every seat in the 60-seat bar offers fab views of Bangkok including the landmarks of Golden Mountain at Wat Saket, Anata Samakom Throne Hall, Benchamapophit Temple (Marble Temple).
Come late afternoon and watch the sun drop towards night time and ask the Mixologist to custom make you a martini. This is also Thailand’s first stone grill alfresco restaurant. Open 6pm-midnight.
Where: 865 Rama 1 Road, Wang Mai, Pathumwan, Bangkok
Vertigo and Moon Bar
The first open-air rooftop bar in Bangkok was right here on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel.
It is still a must-see and probably the most popular bar/al fresco dining spot in the city.
Be aware that you’ll need to walk from the 59th floor up the stairs. And if the stairs don’t do it, the views will take your breath away so make sure you have your camera – to capture that moment when you begin to breathe again!
They have binoculars at Moon Bar and sofa beds for a chilled out birds’ eye view of Bangkok. Make a reservation first – you can do that online.
Where: 21/100 South Sathon Road, Sathon, Bangkok
