Photo essay: the Baja Peninsula, Mexico

Who knew, just 2 hours flight from LA and you could be swanning about like the rich and famous whose jets litter the runway at Los Cabos airport here at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, Mexico? Not me. Until now.

Here’s some of my favourite photos I have taken over the last few days…

Mission church, Mexico

Mission churches are everywhere and this one is between Los Cabos and La Paz at Puente El Triunfo

Cabo sunset

The sunset view from my balcony at Riu Palace in Cabo San Lucas

Tequila in a pistol bottle

Check out my tequila guns!

Tequila worm

No, I didn’t try this one!

Pelicans at Cabo

Pelicans are about as common as seagulls here at Cabo San Lucas marina

La Paz

This teeny beach is off the coast of La Paz, past the sea lion colony where you can swim

Being fancy... can you tell what it is?

Recycle your rubbish to save the marine life! (At least I think that's what it means)

Parasailing, Cabo

A bit of parasailing in front of Riu Palace hotel

Hole in the rock, Cabo

The famous hole in the rock off Cabo San Lucas. Even tequila bottles come shaped like this.

A touch of the wild west on a horse ranch where you can also drive ATVs around the sand dunes
